C Spire Wireless Academic All-Star Presented To Cordova Student

Cordova, Tenn. (November 19, 2012) – Sukriti Mohan, a senior at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.

Mohan is one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for Mathematics. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Mohan and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.

Mohan is a top scholar who has a penchant for the study of mathematics. She holds a 5.57 weighted grade point average, scored 34 on the ACT and 2300 on the SAT. Mohan received a perfect 36 and perfect 800 on the math portions of those tests and a perfect 800 in Critical Reading. She enjoys abstract thinking and enjoys thinking through problems. Mohan has earned all A’s in nine AP courses and 13 honors courses.

As a junior, Mohan received the University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award. Last summer, she attended the Governor’s School for International Studies as well as the Bridges’ Leadership Institute. Mohan also participated in Memphis College Research Experience for Students from High School studying optics and hand-eye coordination in children at the Southern College of Optometry.

The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators.

Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each week during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
